Board Approves 5/6 Building Contractor
At a special meeting of the IACS Board of Trustees on January 7, 2013, the board approved the Facilities Committee recommendation to enter into contract with Vanguard Modular Building Systems for the construction of our new 5th/6th grade – 15 classroom, free standing, single-story secure building with approximately 18,000GSF. At a cost of approximately $3.6M, the building will also house administration offices, break out rooms and a teacher’s work area. Groundbreaking will begin this winter with a targeted completion date of this summer with time to ‘move in’ and be ready for the September 2013 start of school!
This will undertake Phase Three of our Four Phase Expansion Initiative and this new facility will have finishes, furniture and technology similar to the new middle school science classrooms completed in Phase One. Transferring our 5th and 6th grade classrooms to this new building will enable us to accommodate expanding HS enrollment and the need for enhanced space and classrooms for the remaining student body.
Vanguard Modular Building Systems will be partnering with J & J Construction to undertake this project. Please be aware that every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to the current parking lot, drop-off and pickup procedures as well as disruption to the school day. Be sure to stay tuned to this site for pictures and further details of construction.
